Intermediate Private Lessons

Our Intermediate Private Lesson Program is an on-leash six-week basic obedience course designed to give dog owners the confidence and skills to train their dog effectively at home or in a controlled environment. Each session is one hour per week, scheduled at your convenience, and led by a certified or master trainer who will guide you through each command step by step.

This program focuses on teaching five core commands along with one custom or remedial skill, tailored to your dog’s unique needs. You’ll receive detailed outlines each week, which include:

A clear definition of the command
A breakdown of the step-by-step training process
Guidance for follow-up practice to reinforce the command in real-world scenarios

What to Expect

Commands Your Dog Will Learn:

Place: Teach your dog to go to a designated location—like a bed, crate, car seat, or mat—and stay there until released. This is especially helpful during cleaning, mealtime, or when guests visit.
Sit: A basic but essential command. You’ll learn how to teach your dog to sit reliably and remain in position until given a release cue.
Down: Your dog will learn to lie down and remain calm, no matter the situation. Unlike place, this command can be used anywhere with enough practice.
Come: A life-saving recall command. We focus heavily on “come” so you can confidently call your dog back in any situation—whether it’s running loose in the yard or encountering distractions outdoors.
Loose Leash Walking & Heel: You’ll be taught two walking styles: loose leash walking allows your dog some freedom to explore without pulling, while heel requires your dog to walk closely beside you with more discipline. Both include training for an implied sit when you stop moving.

How much do programs cost?

Great question! Program prices vary depending on the program and if a behavior modification is needed. For pet training services the range of prices can go from $500.00 to $5,000.00

Do you offer individual private lessons?

Yes of course! If you are looking for a refresher or just want to know a tip in your own training progress we offer free individual lessons that don’t come with a program cost.

What training style do you use?

Beau’s K-9 Academy uses science-proven and field-tested balanced training methods. We use what’s best for your dog’s success and will also build a plan according to your dog’s needs and training goals.

Do you train specific dogs?

We train all breeds of dogs from tea-cup poodles to Great Danes! All dogs are welcome at BK9A.

When can I start training?

We recommend that people enroll in our puppy development courses as early as possible to take advantage of that crucial state of 8 to 16 weeks when the pups are the most impressionable. Getting professional help at this young age significantly lowers the risk of bad behaviors forming and causing problems later on in the training pipeline!

Does in-home training work better than facility training?

That answer depends on the reason for training. If your dog is scared of new places, we recommend in-facility training since we cover the problem for the call in the training.
